Or you haven't thought about it enough. I love my Wii, but it isn't perfect. Nintendo needs to cater to the 15-25 "hardcore" group, as it is gigantic. For instance, if Nintendo makes the most technically impressive console next generation, they could recruit many "hardcore" game developers to make games for their console. Nintendo could also make the casual games and core Nintendo franchises. This would allow Nintendo to dominate completely.

You are right that the Wii (or any system) is not perfect. But Nintendo took this generation by doing the exact opposite of what you said -- by not catering to the 15-25 "hardcore group."

That group thinks Nintendo is for kids, so no matter what you put on it, they aren't buying it. Instead, Nintendo has made games for everyone, just not exclusively for that demographic. The result is that those who are not receiving their usual special attention are crying. And Nintendo won a war that some analysts thought they should not even fight. (There were many calling for Nintendo to go the Sega-route with respect to consoles before this generation and almost all the rest predicted total lifestime sales of less than the Gamecube.)

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
