Some really had a bad experience, like Id software. Even though they do not admit it, they hold a grudge againt Nintendo (I don't think Carmack does though).

What happened between iD and Nintendo?

Nintendo wouldn't let ID put Super Mario Bros on computers.

In retrospect, that was an excellent idea, because now people have to pay 500 Wii points for it on the Virtual Console. It would've been heavily pirated as well. I can't really blame Nintendo for that.

 

However, during tat time, I don't see how they wouldn't let iD do that, but let Philips release horrible Zelda games on the CD-i.
