You know, I think what he says isn't so wrong. It depends a bit how you interpret it, but in some ways, it is true for me.
I would call myself a core gamer, and I care the most about Nintendo titles. I'm not really a fan of shooters and such. If I were, I'd probably buy another console next to my Wii, so a game like the Conduit would be in a heavy concurrence. But I am not, and I only buy shooter if they seem to be really amazing and above average. So either way, the Conduit has a problem with me.
Now the question is how you define core games. Because if titles similar to Mario/Zelda/Metroid come out, I'm gonna buy them, like Okami for example. But lately, hardcore games were usually shooters or action games like Conduit, Madworld, House of the Dead etc.
