BTW; tirade doesn't really fit for what you were going for in that post. Try crusade instead.

Many words have multiple meanings:

Tirade can mean- "outspoken denunciation"

I'd say that fits about perfect.

 

 

 

 

I agree with sieanr on this one. 

The word "tirade" is singular.  For example, sieanr's single post could be considered a tirade (though an abnormally short one).  If sieanr made one long rant against the ps3, it would be considered a tirade, however, you were referring to his many posts that are anti-ps3, which would be multiple tirades, though even then, most of them would not be considered tirades in the traditional sense, as a tirade is usually rather lengthy, synonymous to a rant, rather than a single statement.

Crusade, however, would've fit perfectly with what you were trying to say, so I can understand sieanr's choice to substatute it with tirade.  Sieanr could be said to be crusading against the ps3, his crusade consisting primarily of tirades against the ps3.

Haha very well said makingmusic, I agree I overlooked the case that it is singular.

However, tirade can still be used to simply mean 'abuse' which is undeniably acceptable.
