The stronger a system's lineup gets, the more people become interested in the machine and see it as a viable purchase.
My oldest brother is considering buying a Wii once Galaxy 2 and Metroid are out, and will buy TP, Galaxy and other older first party titles because they should be cheaper by then. He'll also have plenty of games to use with the system.
I guess there could be other people in a similar situation. People hold off until they're sure there's enough to make the purchase worth while.
