The conduit raised the bar all the way to the GC level, snowdog.

Whilst the Rogue Squadron games were visually very impressive and contained a great deal of bump mapping they didn't (as far as I remember!) include gloss and diffuse mapping, depth of field, focus blur, real-time reflection and refraction, advanced particle effects and HDR lighting. Technically The Conduit is a masterpiece. The only thing that let it down was the art direction and level design.

Those things are all there, but did they make the game look any better? No. Star Fox adventures, released in 2002, looks much better. Different type of graphics, but it still looks BETTER.

My *problem* is that I simply don't think the Wii has much room to improve over, say, SMG and SSBB, and I am also very disappointed with the graphics in, say 99% of Wii games, including those published by Nintendo (with the notable exceptions).

This is why I've been so... anti-Wii? Lately. The console promised a lot but I was foolish to believe it.
