And while Wii sports resort IS a collection of mini games, it's ridiculous to call it shovelware. It is a AAA title, and is a game that can move Nintendo's new casual market to upscale to more core games. With the exception of puzzle solving, most of the mechanics of a Zelda game are here, exploring, shooting arrows, sword fighting. This is not only a great game itself, but it uses the Wii Sports environment to teach players skills that they would need to enjoy more core experiences. There are skills taught here to casual gamers they could use in a WaveRace game, a flight game, a lightsaber game. And though most games are easy enough for the casual player, there is great difficulty for a core gamer to enjoy as well (level 18 swordfighting anyone?) Tying everything together with the island is no accident, this is a phenomenal example of a bridge title to help turn new "casual" gamers into gamers. |
I wish I had this game, nobody can review a game without playing it.
"How hard would it be to randomize facial features and skin tones? That's what we want, to feel like we're killing hundreds of different people. Not a bunch of clones or twins. We want to know, deep down, that there are hundreds of grieving mothers out there, lamenting the terror of our dreaded blade."
