There is no way PS3 sales would drop 30% in one week for any reasons other than the rumours that a price cut will most likely be announced on the 18th August and/or that PS3's are in short supply (as they are being phased out for a new SKU).

Actually, in Japan, that 30% drop still only means from 8500 to 6000, that is 2500 units difference. 

Yes, but in the 3 preceding weeks sales only dropped by a total of ~1%. Although 2500 is not a relatively large amount compared to other markets, 30% is still a huge anomaly.
