I was being serious.  I think the argument that sale are down because people are waiting for the slim is unfounded.  It's like saying that Wii numbers are lower in NA because people are waiting for the black Wii.  Both cases are pure speculation, the slim hasn't been announced, and the black wii in NA hasn't been announced either.

Now, having said that, I do respect the argument that sales are down because of reduced stock.  That is a valid, well founded argument.  Why the stock is low is a matter of speculation at this point.
