| FishyJoe said: At least most of the Sony fanboys will admit that supply is plentiful. Why not just say when the newer games come out in the summer, they expect sales to increase. Instead they have to put out this baloney about supply problems. Sometimes it's better just to say nothing. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=13615 Despite the PlayStation 3 being outperformed not only by the Xbox 360 and Wii, but also the Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PSP and even Game Boy Advance, the statement goes on to assert that, “PS3 saw a month-over-month increase of 2 percent with sales of 129,638 units, we continued to find ourselves supply constrained in March due primarily to the shift in manufacturing focus to the PS3 PAL version to support the launch of the system in Europe.” |
A company issuing PR releases which make them look good? Shocked, I am shocked! Actually, there really is a supply constraint on next-gen sales, but it isn't the consoles themselves, it's... (drum roll)... HDTV. You really need an HDTV to get the most out of 360/PS3, but there aren't enough people out there who have those TVs. They're damn expensive ($700 and up). So what's happening is that the same niche market which bought 360s last year are now splitting their dollars between the 360 and PS3. It all depends on how fast HDTV spreads in the mass market.
