I didn't really follow the whole Slim saga but do Sony intend the Slim to completly replace the old model or are they going to keep selling it next to it, possibly at a lower price point?
The smartest thing to do IMO would be lower the fat to 300$ and sell the slim for 400$ during the holiday season, then once you have squeezed all the sale you can out of the one ready to pay premium for a Slim, discontinue the fat and drop the Slim price to 300$.
