In all honesty, I find the VGChartz articles are better written than the majority of articles by so called professional gaming journalists online.

I've given up on IGN, Gamespot and others. I still read Chris Kohler's blog and Edge, but even Edge falls into criticising Nintendo just because the core market isn't their only focus. At least, that's what it feels like at times. For example, Edge's summary of Nintendo's E3 lineup in the news section was over whelmingly negative, it ignored the Metroid announcement and stated that the Galaxy 2 announcement was the only good thing in it.

I agree with what someone else said-that for Wii, it's very often a lose-lose situation. That doesn't just translate to the "NMH/MadWorld would be better/more successful on 360" argument, though. I think it also applies to Nintendo's press briefings now. For example, last years pre-E3 briefing was criticised by Edge for putting too much focus on Nintendo's new audience. This year Nintendo was criticised by Edge for aiming at different parts of its audience in one press briefing. Next year Nintendo may well be criticised for focusing too much on core content!

It's frustrating much of the time attempting to find balance coverage of Wii games and news. Mostly I stick to VGChartz for it. In fact, it almost reminds me of the negative press PS3 seemed to get throughout 2007. Perhaps this negative slant towards Wii is because the 'core' journalists and observers of the industry dislike the fact a console that doesn't just cater for them and their every need has become the market leader? I think it's something along those lines.

But yeah, rant near enough over. I agree with the OP.
