I would suspect the disparity is due to the nature of the location rather then any ill will or greed on the part of Microsoft. I would wager that extra cost is primarily due to the nations involved. In that Microsoft is just passing the costs down the line. Microsoft is one of the few companies that is very avid about honoring all tax laws.

So your probably having your nations sales tax applied, and surcharges for infrastructure usage, and of coarse the size of the markets involved isn't helping either. You do need a set amount of money to maintain servers and staff. In other words it would probably be a bit higher due to the weak demand, but everyone else wants a piece of the action too.

Give them a little credit from what I understand gaming is expensive as hell down under, and I doubt its the game companies saying lets rob these people. Would anyone in the area no any thing about these local taxes or regulations that may be driving up the price.

Microsoft always applies my sales tax when I buy points. They are one of the few companies that actually do that. Most just pass the burden on to you to write off on your income tax filing. I know most people will never do that for online purchases, but what can I say I am a civic minded person I do fill that in when I remember. I like that Microsoft is law biding that way.
