You cannot steal what does not exist. The copy of the game that a "pirate" gets does not exist until he/she creates it. As such no one has lost anything tangible at all. You can say it lost a potential sale, but that is not even close to something tangible. There for it is inaccurate and wrong to attempt to label "pirates" as thieves. Criminals, sure. But we don't call murderers thieves because they "stole" a life. Words have set meanings for a reason, and for that reason you cannot call copyright infringement theft.
