Piracy is a form of theft you are stealing their intellectual property even if you are not stealing a physical copy of the disc. Now as for causes of it is something else entirely. The prices they charge in many cases and in many places are outrageous. When I was in Israel I saw Ratchet and Clank Future Quest for Booty in disc form for what would be the equivalent of $100 yet it's on the PSN in the US for $15. This is one clear example of a game being way over priced since its not a full game just a short one yet in Israel they would be paying the same price as they would for regular for games which is still $40 more than games are in the US

Intelletual Property is a joke. You have no idea how flawed it is.

This happened a few years ago. John Carmack, being abadass as he always is, alone comes up with some new algorith. However some other company also came up with it at basically the same time. They patented it first so Carmack kinda screwed. Please tell me oh wise person, to who does the intellectual propety belong to then?

Face it, Intellectual Property laws are a joke, and defining anything by them is also a joke.

In the case of Carmack vs the company the property clearly doesn't belong to anyone who just downloads it or copies it.  I won't deny that laws have flaws but that doesn't mean that I would think it's right for someone to download something that someone created just because they don't feel like paying for it.  Maybe they don't have the money for it.  Maybe it's way to expensive there.  Those are things that could be addressed but I do feel that the artits creaters and studios do deserev to get paid for what they make.  Just because it's something that can be so easily coppied in many cases doesn't make it right to.

I have a psp I think there would be many more good games on it if people didn't pirate the ones that are there so much.  So I as a consumer loose out because so many out there feel it's ok for whatever reason not to pay for it.  Sony very well might have sold fewer if it wasn't so easy to pirate but then again they might have sold more if more good games were made for it and people were to buy the psp to play the games.

By no means are the laws flawless but at what point does one draw the line between it's ok to download it for nothing vs paying for it?  I can understand why many do it.  Sometimes the prices can be crazy especially in the smaller markets, but when some come up with "well I wouldn't have bought it anyway " as an excuse to steal bugs me.  If you were interested in it enough to download it  why not check rewies ask your friends try and rent it or a demo,  wait to see if the price drops or if you can find it used.  But to blatently say never means you probably shouldn't be playing it in the first place.
