The Nintendo 64 controller was, in my opinion, the best controller ever made. Name a genre that it was not made for...
The Wii remote, while excellent, just does not bode well with traditional 2d fighters. Versatility as well as innovation make for the best controller ever, and the Nintendo 64 controller had that in spades.
