so what I agree :

Xbox360 arcade is just the only reason the 360 is able to selll so well versus the PS3 during Xmas : cheaper entry price is a key factor.
Xbox360 sales will still be very good this Xmas du to the Arcade sku

what I dont agree (bubble bursting ON)

Who said Arcade will have a price drop this Xmas ?
Who said HDD will have a price drop this Xmas ?
Since recession is killing USA, one could expect PAL to dominate NA this Xmas
Xbox360 is already the core gamers console BUT always keep in mind, these core gamers LOVE to buy multiple console during the same generation : all 360 fanboys ==> upgrade PS3 !!!
price cut effect are generally enought powerfull to drive the sales during 1 full years (see the year to year comparaison between 2008 and 2009 : thx the 2 xbox360 price cut in PAL, and the one in NA/Japan)
Wii price cut anyone (= Arcade 360 R.I.P) ?

well, the 1 september is gonna be funny on VGChartz

Noone says that the Arcade will have a price drop, however they did say that the Arcade broke even with accessories and that was last year before the cost of shipping fell to less than a third it is today. That was before the recession cut the cost of pretty much every component inside the machine. Without the Premium SKU they have more flexibility with regards to pricing as they only have to consider the price of the Arcade SKU vs the Elite SKU.

The HDD may or may not have a price drop, its useful but not a major factor.

The recession is killing everyone, everywhere and that includes PAL. With a reccession people are more price concious, so the effects of a price cut are greater.

The PS3 has very little in the way of exclusive games to entice the Xbox 360 core audience. These are people who have access to better shooters and whom are not eagerly awaiting the next R+C or Team ICO game. Furthermore the number of multi-console owners are >10% over a generation and with all the multiplats its probably going to be less. Lastly GT5 isn't that compelling when you have Forza 3 available on your own platform and it has a chance to prove itself worthy before GT5 even gets released.

Price cuts effect sales indefinately. They just slow the decline of sales over the long term and make the overall sales more steady year over year.

Wii price cut = PS3 R.I.P. you could argue that as well...
