Saw a small debate on that, not sure if there are any sources that conflict with that figure? Also I'd assume SE arn't going to pay full royalties, as they would have got something from Sony for Japan exclusivity and something from Microsoft for porting the game? That's just speculation though so should be ignored :P.

For later shipments the retailer may buy the games for less then $48 if the initial sales are a let down. That's up for negotiation between the retailer and publisher - and depends on their stock of used copys.
There are cases where the retailer will order say 200000 copies of a game for $48, sell only 150000 at $60 and sell the rest at a loss. It's generally accepted that retailers don't make a great deal of their profit from selling new games as they lose money due to games flopping and over ordering - but they make most their profits from used games sales.

Slime beast should read this post. He is finding out the average of how much the retailer pays for a game by using how much consumers pay for it. Which that logic is all wrong. |
It's better to do it that way, than to have a poster come here and tell he works in Gamestop claiming their wholesale price for PS360 games is $50, and you will take that as gospel because it fits yuor agenda (while in reality the guy isn't looking at the whole picture, that there are games they get for cheaper, that he's only refering the price for completely new games, and forgetting that they get cheaper over time, especially if the game sold badly).
Also, small retailers pay more than Walmart, Bestbuy, Amazon and other online stores.
