They're making improvements over Left 4 Dead and there is nothing to suggest its rushed, a year is long enough.

It lacks content and variation. The first game needed twice as many levels ..

No I'm saying the game lacks content as a full game. Not that the content it does have is bad.

and that left 4 dead 2 should be an expansion pack.

Perhaps you can enlighten us as to why when it has more content than the first one. Yet again I say, if the exact same game were coming out in 2010 or 2011, there would be no whining about it at all. The only attempted justification for this "expansion pack" nonsense is that "OMG the game is coming out one year after the first one, Valve's trying to milk the franchise!"
