No Japanese at all. Everytime I went to talk to someone I'd start to speak Korean, then stop and end up just saying nothing.

 

On the plus side, most people speak English. you'd have no problems there on vacation.

this is kinda misleading. Most people don't speak English. Most people speak enough English that work at the places that tourists would go if that's what you're getting at.

Whether most people speak English or not i had no problems when i was in Tokyo five years ago.  I just got myself a train pass, looked up some places i wanted to go to, got a map or two and had no problems in the 3-4 days i was wandering solo.  My parents went to Osaka or Yokohama about the same time and said they had a bit more trouble than getting around in Tokyo.
