Um... I mentioned the PS2 because it... you know.. sits in your living room and plays games, much like the Wii does. Also, you can buy it at major retailers, and software for it... much like the Wii...
It's fascinating that you care about "which gen" a console belongs to, but in the eye of a businessman, the PS2 is still quite relevant, and very much counts. The "generation" of a console is totally irrelevant, from the vast majority of standpoints.
Do pushpins designed several years ago count as "last gen", and thus should not be counted when comparing pushpin and corkboard marketshares?
