Nintendo expanded that casual crowd with Wii Sports and Wii Fit, etc.

I would even go as far as to say games like Final Fantasy VII and Crash Bandicoot for the PS1 and GTA San Andreas for PS2 were very casual because of their mainstream appeal and the way they were played.

Being mainstream doesn't make the game casual. I'd agree to an extent on Crash, but not on FF7.
