It sounds like what he means is SONY sets a limit to how many trophy points a game can carry. Like PSN games can only have a Max of 30 points while Retail games can only have a max of 100. Or something like that. This may have something to do with the price of the game.
It sounds like the dev's went with alot of bronze and less of anything else so there could be more trophies in the game, instead of just a few trophies but with more points per trophy.
Which makes sense since:
Bronze - 1 point
Silver - 2 Points
Gold - 6 Points
Platinum - 12 Points
That's all I'm getting from this article... doesn't sound like anyone's paying for anything...
