Honestly Halo Wars sold badly and it proved that the Halo name ain't so strong that millions will buy anything with 'Halo' in it.
Because we need to remember that it was also a decent game.
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars on the X360 got the same Metacritic as Halo Wars (82%) and sold 550,000 copies. Halo Wars hasn't hit 1.4 million yet. So less than 1 million sales for this solid game is due to the Halo factor.

If you really think Microsoft was expecting it to sell as much as the FPS Halos, you are deluding yourself. Command and Conquer is one of the premier RTS franchises, and Halo Wars selling about a million more copies than that is bad? Maybe I am missing the logic here...

Stop joking. No one thought Halo Wars would do Halo 3 numbers - Halo 3 will reach 11-12 million lifetime and Halo 3: ODST over 6 million. But there's a middle ground too.
1.4 million Halo Wars compared to 550,000 C&C3 may sound okay, and it still is selling, but to call it good sales I demand almost 3 million.
