That's just being delusional. Not even the first one sold that much and then the series lost popularity. The ones that are hardcore fans of the series already have all three games most probably. It's impossible it can outsell it's own fanbase. 1 million IMO is not possible.

Ok, so it's unlikely, but I do believe it's possible with the right marketing campaign. The thing is that the Gamecube had the lowest install base, so most gamers probably don't even realize who amazing Metroid Prime was. Then when a game comes out which is the third in a trilogy (MP3) it's always going to be harder to score big sales with people who don't know the franchise. Hence, with the right push, the trilogy could, feasibly, maybe, possibly be a huge hit. It certainly has the quality factor.
