I wouldn't claim to be the only one, but that is key to the game, Nate is a fundamentally lovable guy, he certainly grows on you throughout the game. That is certainly key, though I don't think the movie will stand up to the game. I never feel as connected to someone who I am just watching, not controlling, I don't really have a stake in his survival
