i really can't buy this "it'll make the early adopters mad" excuse. it's not just in video games, but in pretty much all electronics, movies, music cd's, books, appliences, cars, ect if you wait to buy something, you can get it cheaper later. the early adopters know that the thing their buying is gonna be cheaper a few years from now. they choose to pay the higher price to have it now. i don't get how anybody could get mad over this.
though probably the only reason he's using this excuse is because he of course doesn't want to say "sucks to be you kid. our stuff's still flying off the shelves. the prices ain't going down for a LONG time!"
