In what sense was this article fair? It gives no perspective on the over all market what-so-ever, and focuses on taking side swipes at a couple of the competitors. Well actually, it did give a perspective on the gaming market, and one that seems to be fairly on par with the real world situation. The article was aimed at talking about the largest drop in revenue in gaming history, the compeditors have seen a fairly substantual drop as well...thats why they were put in the article. The Wii is in sales dive, and needs something quick but is still extremely profitable and outselling all competing machines combined. Did you get that message from the article? Common knowlege my friend, it was also irrelevant to the story, which incase you missed it, was about the largest drop in revenue in gaming history. It should be in there somewhere. I'll give you time to scan for it while I make my next point. He also completely ignores the upcoming games for the Wii. You have 2 sequels to games that sold over 15 million copies due out this fall. According to the article the next big game from Nintendo is SMG2 which is due out next year. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was also delayed specifically to allow one of those 2 aforementioned sequels a little breathing room for maximum sales potential of both titles. This means NMSBWii will be out before it, and this is a widely known fact. Certainly, but did you ever stop to think that perhaps the guy thinks the sequals won't be as big? Or perhaps he didn't research deep enough. But seriously, I've seen worse from "journalists"...it's really nothing to get all huffy about. The article doesn't bash the Wii. You have a point there. The author just intentionaly create the illusion that Nintendo is suffering far worse than it is. Jounalists thrive off of making the story bigger than it is, this is an age old practice that keeps their readership interested...they do it on EVERY subject...stop whining. His motivation for that can be questioned till the end of time but ultimately it comes down to one of two possibilities. He is incompetent, or he has something against Nintendo and the Wii. You left out the third option, he is doing his job, taking a story and amplifying it. |
See once again, you people miss the point and go crying about how unfair life is...get over it already.
