Gates tends to speak the truth... Just take it for what it's worth. He's not a PR expert. He just knows who to rip off, and when to rip them off.
And Earth Siege 1/2 were Hardcore Awesome.
StarSiege should die.
Mechwarrior was around in decent form after Earth Siege 1/2 but I always like Earth Siege better.
And then Mechwarrior died. And StarSiege came out. and it was not mech-feely.
