No, No, No, some people give some bad advice. Probably cause they don't own a Wii and want to talk trash. Wii will look fine on a HDTV if you use Component cables. I personally have the Nintendo brand components. Beware though some games look better than others for example Mario Galaxy Looks gorgeous on my 50" Plasma screen while resident evil 4 looks only ok. so yes component cables make a big difference.
