And what exactly would you like them to say? I feel Reggie handled the situation cleverly without being too dismissive (not adressing it at all) or too confrontational (outright attacking the 360). PR is a delicate balance and its not always about desperately trying to counter everything the competition does. Nintendo is perhaps the most aware of anyone just how fragile their lead is and have spoken publically of this caution time and time again. If Nintendo doesn't say anything, people will say they're overconfident. If Nintendo says something, people say they're overconfident. It's really a no win from this vantige point of criticism. |
Wait...what? You think that if Nintendo doesn't say anything people will read that as being overconfident? How do you figure? That makes no sense at all.
As far as what I think he should of said...allow me to quote my post that you have already quoted to give you that answer.....
"I think he should focus on why Nintendo has a great product and let the comparison stand on its own."
Anyways, I'm not sure how much you keep up with these forums, but I have pointed out a few times recently that Nintendo is aware that they need to not get cocky, so I am well aware of that.
I wasn't trying to say that I thought Nintendo was getting cocky, but that they didn't need to engage in this type of rhetoric. I think they can take the high road to reinforce their public image and avoid stepping into the PR smack-talk ring with MS & Sony. Because I think MS & Sony benefit from that image and the Wii does not.
