Sometimes a habit starts for one reason, but continues for another.
During the fall of 2006 the tech sites I frequented were full of flame wars predicting the outcome of this gen. And seemingly everywhere Nintendo fans like myself were mocked for our faith in the wii. When it first started to become evident that the wii was selling better than the PS3 I began coming to vgchartz for proof of this in flame wars. I came here for numbers and nothing more.
But eventually the discussions started dying down on other boards, even though I was gunning to keep talking about this topic; this led me to the forums. Once I started reading the forums I found that really enjoyed the prevelance of fact based discussions on this board. (this isn't to deny the existence of fanboys - heck, I am one - but I think its fair to say that the percent of intelligent posts are higher here than anywhere else I've been, and there are a variety of viewpoints which are well represented)
So I guess I am interested in sales not for their own sake, but because I like the discussion on vgchartz; I find that when I have taken breaks from vgchartz for weeks or even months, I don't think about sales at all until I come back here.
