Not sure what the big deal is here.

If someone isn't interested in buying games for a console and is presumably no longer using it, and all that console does is play games, and you would rather have the money it resold for instead, why WOULDN'T you sell it?

Generally, after 2-3 years (I would hope earlier), most should be able to tell whether they like a particular platform or not. If you need the money spent on that purchase back or would rather spend that money on something else, hanging onto it in the hopes that a 3 year trend will miraculously do a 180 is probably not the best approach.

If you're indifferent and the cost of a console is pretty irrelevant then sure; hang onto it for the random title or two in the future that you might be interested in buying, but otherwise the worst case scenario for selling: pick up another one down the line when it retails for less, or buy a used one at that point for even less than that. The only thing you lose are your VC and DD games (no loss if you don't buy them).
