I don't know if you have heard but Sony is producing few other things like blue ray/dvd players, tvs, hi-fi, computers, mp3 players etc.

By the end of their fiscal year, Sony reported about 1 billion in losses. 600 million of these came from their gaming division which is a majority.

Which would prove your claim flase (or backwards). If Sony is losing money from the game division, then it's not their life blood. It's the wound that's killing them. In this case, Sony's profits depends a lot more on how much money the game division is/isn't pissing away.
