To put it another way.  I notice that most people, yourself included, list Super Mario 3, but don't list Super Mario 1.   Super Mario 1 is the reason a good percentage of people bought a NES.   It could be argued that it is the most influencial and important game ever made, but there is no love for it on the lists here.  That is how I feel about Zelda.  It is hard for me to put a game in the top 10 of anything when I'd rather be playing 3 of its sequels.  I feel the same way about Metroid, Final Fantasy, and Castlevania.  All of which are/were great games.
