and how exactly do you "prove" that it's impossibile?

Because you assume the systems will continue to sell at the same rate they are currently selling?

Because you neglect that there will be huge boosts in Ps3 sales when FFXIII comes out in Japan this winter...when God of War III comes out in March...when GT5 comes out...when there is a price cut...etc.

Seriously. I didn't read through the entire thread and do not intend to. Did you factor any of that into your claims?

Nothing is impossible but its improbable enough to make people consider you to be wacky when you bring it up as if its likely. The math is all over this thread, no point in repeating.

A large boost is in the order of 100k or 200k or even 300k consoles sold for the really really large boosts. Next to that 9M its nothing. So even if GT5/FFXIII boost sales by half a million combined it still leaves a gap of 8.5M to overcome and they are the final pieces of software which could boost sales.

God Of War 3 will do very little for sales, if MGS4 didn't do that much and it was a series which was both bigger and popular in Japan.

I think you're not factoring anything into your claims, go check past precedent. The data for the MGS4 release is available and that was with a $100 cut in America, BC 80GB available temporarily and the biggest hardware spike in Japan to date for the PS3.

Why do people neglect this: http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php

The ONLY reason 360 is higher in sales is because it's been out a year longer. However, Ps3 will MORE THAN LIKELY be on the market atleast a year longer than 360.

You guys act as if this gen is over as soon as the first next-gen system comes out.

You must remember though that for that info to be relevant, PS3 would need to be catching up to the 360. It currently is not, so graphs and year head starts prove nothing here, except that Sony had brand name on it's side more this gen than any other.

Again - what makes ppl think that sales figures will always stay the same?

PlayStation's three biggest titles havent even released yet. The freakin DEMO of FFXIII pushed alot of hardware in Japan, what do you think is going to happen when the actual game comes out?

People that bought a PS3 for the demo will purchase another one for FFXIII.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
