I don't know why you'd think that last year's GC had more Sony announcments than TGS 07 and TGS 08 combined. Furthermore, E3 last year was over a month later than this year. That's more time with which to build announcments. You also need to take into account that Sony's coference at GC last year was only an hour long, where as this time it will be 3 hours. Quite a bit of difference. Just a quick reference:

Tokyo Game Show 2007 Sony Presentation: 1 Hour
Sony's E3 2008 Presentation: 1.5 Hours
Sony's Games Convention 2008 Presentation: 1 Hour
Tokyo Game Show 2008 Sony Presentation: 1/2 an Hour
Sony's E3 2009 Presentation: 2 Hours
Sony's GamesCon 2009 Presentation: 3 Hours

Even if Sony simply showed us everything they already showed us at E3 last month, they'd still have at least an hour of new things to show us. It's been well over two years since Sony has had a public presentation that long. You can definitely expect a slew of new announcments. Trust me, if David Reeves were still in charge of SCEE, he wouldn't shut up about this thing for the next month.

I hope you are right.  Digital Polyphony has a history of announcing GT titles at TGS.  I think that's where they will announce GT5.  The slim and pricecuts have been rumored to hit in September at the earliest.  I think August is too early to announce either of these things (if they exist). That's why I suggested TGS for these announcements.

Three hours seems like a long time, and I don't have any idea what Sony will be discussing.  Based upon past Leipzigs, I wouldn't get your hopes up for any megatons.  I hope that Sony clarifies some release dates for big titles (which I doubt they will), and properly demonstrate their motion control.  I don't think you are going to get much more than that.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
