I'm just saying that if the casual crowd doesn't come out and buy Nintendo's next console they may be hurting financially in a few years...

I don't think Nintendo will be hurting financially, but I am curious about how they are going to attract the next generation of consumers.  It will be an interesting feat to see how Nintendo's Super Wii beats its original Wii.  I mean, for the people who just bought Wii Sports and a couple other games... why buy the Super Wii?

You are right.  They probably won't be hurting money wise since they have made sooo much money on the Wii but I can see them being in last place again easily.  Don't get me wrong, I too have a Wii and love many of the games but as creative and original as Nintendo is they are FAR behind in other areas that they should be competent in considering how much money they have made.  It is almost like if they didn't think of an idea first or go there first then it isn't a good idea.  MS certainly didn't innovate as much as Nintendo this gen but Xbox Live is really nice for a console infrastructure...

I'm not sure what Nintendo is going to do next.  Unlike MS/Sony, I doubt they will invest in AI/Facial/Voice Recognition etc. (besides dabbling) since that kind of software development probably costs alot just like HD visuals do but I can see them revisiting the Virtual Boy concept with a sunglass like headset for a virtual reality portable.  The virtual boy was just ahead of its time since the tech just wasn't there yet...

In the meantime, every time they release a big game that is missing features that should be standard this gen (16x9, Dolby PL, IR Camera Controls where possible, online features) I will point out how disappointing it is.  There are two kinds of fanboys.  Those that blindly eat up anything their favorite company makes and defend it to the death and those that question areas that could use improvement.  I fall into the latter category and Nintendo is sorely lacking in online this gen, despite me liking Mario Kart and The Conduit.
