For me it feels like the exact same thing - surf to Steam and download, or surf to torrent site and download. The only difference is that one is free, the other is pay.
Most PC owners are advanced users, I mean, the people that like to play are (or they'd swtitch to consoles already). So therefore u cant make that comparison - it's both harder to pirate on consoles, and the demografix is very different.
PC owners can handle torrents, it's as easy as getting on Steam.
