DLC is the one sure fire way developers have of generating revenue off of used game sales. Otherwise they don't see a penny on them.
While I realize there are plenty of gamers out there who don't give a cent whether the developers or publishers get their cut for the years of work they do, it's a bit disingenuous to complain when they sell additional content down the line to get people to keep playing their game and presumably not sell it after two weeks.
Use game sales don't count for a developer's bottom line.
If the whole $60 game as an "investment" is something some still have issue with, try renting, GameFly or just buying that same game months later when it's on sale for a lot less.
