The story really isn't that good, but it's still kinda fun to put together the pieces between the dialog and the hidden messages. So here are a few points:

- Adams is also known by the name 'Enlil,' and has been on Earth for at least 240 years. It's no coincidence that the US declared independance from England 233 years ago. Enlil is an ancient Sumerian wind god.

- Little is known about why Prometheus came to Earth in the first place, but he's apparently betrayed Enlil more than once now. These two have a lot of history.

- Adams and the mysterious being he's talking to discuss how 'others' are mobilizing, perhaps for or against them. This seems to refer to a host of other extradimensional alien species or organizations, which hidden messages seem to allude to. Now that Earth is open for extradimensional business, they may come to stake their claim, or to prevent enemies from seizing new resources.

The whole thing reminds me of Buckaroo Banzai. And I think that's a good thing. Unlike Buckaroo, we're actually going to get a sequel this time, though.

The story on its surface doesn't seem good-- but once you start to piece togther the hidden messages and some of the other conversations the story gets much more interesting.  Adams is an alien who want to see the US be the dominant force on Earth, and that invading DC will somehow accomplish this as well.  Presumably this will be explained more (but probably not entirely) in a sequel.

What I found interesting is that Adams appears to have instigated the Revolutionary War (forgive me, I don't recall what other countries called this war), and this got me to thinking about how the US was not really recognized as a World Power until after WWI, and one of the two dominant powers after WWII.  I think that Adams, or some members of his faction, instigated both of these wars to propel the US to its position of power.  (Incidently, Eternal Darkness had a story where an ancient 'God' manipulated mankind, and the US in particular, into two wars--WWI and Desert Storms, aka the first Iraqi War).  However, the US is starting to loose its grip as the ultimate power on the planet (I don't want to start a political debat-- lets just say that in the game this is true, wheather or not it is true in reality can be debated by others), and Adams can't allow that for reasons that are not stated.

Some of the hidden messages reference the names of alien species that some conspiracy theorists claim to be visiting earth.  Interestingly, these alien races are said to be at odds with each other, if not open war, and Earth is a battlefield for this war.  This implies that their are other alien races that oppose what Adams is doing (and Adams refers to another race/group/faction as mobalizing their forces)-- perhaps Prometheus is a member of another alien race?  Also, if I recall my mythology correctly, didn't Prometheus get exiled by the Gods to Earth for giving man fire?  This could be the first betrayal mentioned (I somehow doubt that it was fire-- perhaps technology of somesort, and the story got twisted over the years).  I think the second betreyal was right before the events of the Conduit (Prometheus tried to stop Adams planned invasion).

Of course, watch me be completly wrong when The Conduit 2 releases.
