My socks are white. This should work out just fine.
By the way, I agree about the yellow comment. This first star in SMG you have to step on all of the yellow switches in order to turn them blue. Nintendo made a miscalculation and thought that they could get away with this. By the time that you switch all of the yellow switches to blue, it is far too late.
