250 Euro's = $348. VAT reduces the disparity some. I don't know how much the cost would be without VAT but in America we average about $20 extra with our taxes so actual retail costs are about $270 for a Wii.

Localization and distribution is a big chunk as well. It's a rough guess but I'd say that may bring it up to $300. The disparity is now $48 dollars or about 34 Euro's.

Let's do the same thing for a game. 60 Euro's = $83. Our taxes bring the $60 USD to about $65 on average (sales tax varies by state and even local county). Localization and distribution is likely an extra $10 so the difference is then $8 USD or about 5.7 Euro's.

All estimates which could be higher or could be lower.

That's wrong because a wii retails for €235 here...

Then why the hell did you just say it was 250 Euro's?

^ Most of nintendo's games are from Japan and they also cost as much as other 3rd party games made in America. I don't think the import costs are that high or anything to really make a difference.
Wii is also 250 euros here which is a lot more expensive then $250... But meh the average West Europeans are probably richer then the Americans anyway.

I thought it was a well known fact that $1=€1 in the gaming industry... Sadly enough...
