With the recent uproar surrounding the announced and imminent Zombie-Slashing sequel, Left 4 Dead 2, Valve are trying to appease their
fanbase - including the boycott group which has now grown to be 37,000 members strong - by attempting to implement a level of
cross-compatibility between players on Left 4 Dead and players on Left 4 Dead 2.
Valve's VP of Marketing also gives insight to possible MOD's that will interchangeable between the two titles:
"With the MOD stuff, if you're making stuff for Left 4 Dead it will work in Left 4 Dead 2 with very minor amounts of work to bring it over. So we feel
we've made good steps on that side and now we're looking at how we manage that for folks who buy the first game and sequel."
The idea of cross-playable games is intriguing and I look forward to seeing if this plan comes to fruition.
