Look, I'm not trying to get into stupid arguments. I said that Sega took NEARLY half of Nintendo's market, which they did. At several points Sega was ahead, and for a long time no system was the clear winner. Nintendo only came out on top at the very end thanks to Donkey Kong Country, Mortal Kombat II and many other games that really showed what the SNES could do. At that point Sega was getting ready for Saturn, had already released the 32-X and had basically abandoned the Genesis. You can't just look at the outcome and say Nintendo easily won, for a while there it really looked like Sega was going to become the dominant player.
My point is, no Sony system ever dominated like the NES. And Nintendo did worse with every generation after that until the Wii came out. That doesn't mean the same thing will happen to Sony, it just means that brand name isn't enough to win.
