I haven't seen much - if any - promotion for the 40Gig in Australia. I walk past an EB everyday to work, and it doesn't have any front window space (taken by GHIII, BBA/Wiimote bundle & DS bundle at the moment).
$700AU for a console in Australia is *still* friggin expensive. The 360 has started advertising for half the price. The $999 PS3 deal is still much better - extra controller, BC, hard disk space - and THREE games.
The Wii still creams it - at $380AU for Wii (+ WiiSports), or $420 + game.
You can also buy the PS2 + game for around $220.
People who want a PS3 for a premium price already have one - selling a crippled PS3 for a slightly-lower premium price isn't going to help much.
