But you know there's going to be someone who says "I was sick of it after the first one!" The sales argument is not going to sway them because they'll say "Britney Spears sold 10 million records, so what!" In spite of that I do think you set out a pretty good yardstick there.
I haven't seen the context of the statement that is referred to in the IGN article. I could easily take a line from one of konnichiwa's posts, like from her sig, and make a quote of something that was referred to out of context. It might actually be quite funny but it might not be very representative of the original thought or even of the original language.
