If you look at MGS4 sales starting 3 months after it's release it was consistently selling a number of software units roughly equivallent to 10% of the PS3 unit sales. The weeks PS3 HW went up, so did MGS4, the week it went down, so did MGS4 sales. That's what I am more trying to point out about the Wii. If HW sales stay down, titles that relie on legs to sell well will have their sales down too... |
I get your point, I just see it the opposite way around. I think that solid SW library/releases enhance HW sales. Thus why HW sales are expected to increase for games like Halo, FF, Zelda, etc. Some people are waiting out for one specific title. Once those people get their consoles, there are still the whole audience of people who already own the console. So they aren't buying the HW, but continue to drive SW sales.
It's all perspective, I suppose. We're allowed to have different ones.
