I love how these kind of threads become a haven for unnecessary negativity. WHO CARES what company has the "most" recognizable character or which is better IYO? Why not just enjoy all the games and characters?

Questions I'm sure won't get answered, but oh well.

Mascots provide great sales for popular culture characters. They are also console sellers. Sony has never had a serious Iconic character outside of Snake, whom is third party and single handedly saved the PS3's ass in 2008 and he has and will be a multiplatform title again. Look what it did for Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft. Sony's highest selling game is a car game. There is not a shred of humanity when you think about it. Nintendo are geniuses at creating mascots that attract children and these children grow up with these characters and play games with their kids. Halo is a Alien kill-joy fest that represents the American military culture that we've become (which is also culturally why we sell the most FPS games). Sony is everywhere with no mascot identity. Sonic was a great character that children loved and I grew up with. "Gotta love them chilli dog's"-Sonic
