| bardicverse said: @ail - fair points. I remember when I visited Ireland in 2006, it was a rough go for my money's worth. We didn't estimate the exchange difference, so our $1,000 US was like $700. It sucked. LOL Tho I would disagree that not all HW slowdowns affect SW. For example, take a core game, like MGS4 - the HW push was fairly small compared to ones like Halo. Yet, the game sold very well all the same. My point is, some SW will still sell strongly, it just might be a game catered to people who already own the HW - aka not a system pusher. |
Typically I would expect the more frontloaded games to be the less affected by a HW sales slow down.
I think you are confusing what I am saying, I'm not talking of the impact of SW on HW sales.
MGS4 is a good example for that by the way, even if it's not a Wii title.
If you look at MGS4 sales starting 3 months after it's release it was consistently selling a number of software units roughly equivallent to 10% of the PS3 unit sales.
The weeks PS3 HW went up, so did MGS4, the week it went down, so did MGS4 sales.
That's what I am more trying to point out about the Wii.
If HW sales stay down, titles that relie on legs to sell well will have their sales down too...
